On this network, each transaction burns 20% of net gas fees in ETH, reinforcing ETH’s monetary value, while the remaining 80% of fees are used to burn LINEA tokens. This creates a direct, deflationary economic feedback loop between the two networks. Additionally, bridged ETH on Linea is natively staked, providing risk-adjusted yields for liquidity providers and fueling DeFi capital efficiency, all while reinforcing Ethereum’s core asset as the most productive digital capital in the ecosystem.

What is LINEA token?

The LINEA token serves as an economic coordination instrument for the Linea blockchain. It is not utilized as Linea's gas token as all the fees are paid in ETH. The application of ecosystem is to encourage real usage, compensate builders and liquidity providers, and leverage long-term growth of Ethereum. Its 72 billion token supply is allocated 85% to the ecosystem (airdrops, builders, and the Ecosystem Fund) and 15% with ConsenSys being locked up for five years. A dual-burn mechanism specifically ties it to on-chain activity: 20% of net ETH fees are burned, and 80% are used to buy and burn LINEA. With no sales by insiders, no DAO control, and distribution according to actual engagement, the token is intended to mirror Linea's growth with the future of Ethereum.

Linea Airdrop

The LINEA token airdrop is designed to reward early users, builders, and community contributors for real engagement on the Linea network. 10% of the total LINEA supply is allocated to early participants, with 9% for users and 1% for strategic builders, all fully unlocked at the Token Generation Event (TGE). Eligibility is determined through activity-based metrics, including participation in the Linea Voyage (LXP) and Linea Surge (LXP-L) campaigns, ensuring that tokens are distributed to authentic, active users. Boosts are applied for sustained engagement, early network activity, and MetaMask usage, allowing participants to earn more within their tier. The airdrop checker went live on September 3, 2025, enabling users to verify eligibility ahead of the claim period, which opens on September 10, 2025, and runs for 90 days. Any unclaimed tokens will return to the Linea Ecosystem Fund to support long-term growth and Ethereum public goods.
