Secret Messages in Merge Blocks Hail Ethereum Devs

But as it turned out soon after the Merge, this message wasn’t symbolic only – but quite concrete as well.

Block 15537393, the last one before the Merge, had only 1 transaction put there by VanityBlocks. This “vanity block” minted an NFT at a cost of about $50,000, and the transaction included a quote of an American philosopher and ethnobotanist Terence McKenna:

“Make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick.”

VanityBlocks has been working on this “last-block project” for over a month “despite being aware it had a slim chance of success.” However, there was another message – in the first PoS block. HashKey Capital inserted a saying: “Powering the Next Wave of Blockchain Innovation.” The team dubbed this stunt a “crypto romance”.

This beautiful act hails all Ethereum developers and researchers who’ve been working hard to prepare the Merge. Coding, upgrades, and testing lasted for 3 years, and today is their day. Let’s celebrate the Merge together and remember that when there’s commitment, there’s nothing impossible!
