Internet Money is a non-custodial wallet funded by its own community. On-chain swaps run on the wallet’s own engine, and cross-chain swaps come through ChangeNOW. The wallet didn’t have to build cross-chain infrastructure, and it earns a share of every swap.
Key Takeaways
- Cross-chain swaps were plugged in rather than built, and each swap earns the wallet a share.
- The provider-side integration was the easy part. Most of the time went into the swap UI for each client.
- When the wallet expanded beyond PulseChain, cross-chain coverage expanded with it without a second integration.
Context
Internet Money raised $1.6M from 2,000 people in under five hours. A wallet funded that way has to earn, because its community expects something back. Part of the income from the wallet’s own on-chain swaps goes to TIME token holders, and they have received close to $1M so far.
The wallet has 125,000+ downloads across Android, iOS and Chrome and adds about 70 installs a day. The team publishes live numbers at internetmoney.io/stats.
The problem
Cross-chain swaps need liquidity and settlement across networks, and every network has to be supported separately ([Best Crypto Bridges in 2026]). For a team this size, building that in-house meant a long development cycle and a big budget. Skipping it wasn’t a real option either, because a multi-chain wallet without cross-chain swaps looks unfinished.
That left a provider. It had to fit how the wallet already works: no custody of user funds, no data collection, no KYC for users.
The solution
Internet Money chose ChangeNOW because of PulseChain. The wallet’s community was there at the time, and ChangeNOW supported it. ChangeNOW doesn’t hold user funds, so the wallet’s custody model stayed the same.
ChangeNOW handles cross-chain swaps between native coins. On-chain swaps stay on Internet Money’s own engine and keep funding TIME payouts.
The provider-side integration was straightforward. The real work was the interface: the team built the swap UI and UX separately for Android, iOS and the Chrome extension, so the timeline depended on the number of clients, not on the provider. Here’s what the integration involves on ChangeNOW’s side.
Results
Cross-chain swaps are live in all three clients. Users swap native coins across networks without leaving the app or creating an account. The wallet earns a share of each of those swaps, which gives it a second revenue line next to its own on-chain swaps.
Since then the wallet has expanded beyond PulseChain, and cross-chain coverage has expanded with it. That took no second provider and no new integration, and ChangeNOW is still Internet Money’s only cross-chain swap provider. The ChangeNOW catalog behind the same integration covers 1,500+ assets across 90+ networks, so the wallet can widen coverage without another development cycle.
“The ChangeNOW team is responsive and professional. If we could go back in time and choose a different company to partner with early, we wouldn’t.” — KG, Founder, Internet Money
Add cross-chain swaps to your product
We provide the same layer through our Rest API. If you’d rather not build your own interface, the widget covers that. You can use fixed or floating rates, and you earn from 0.4% on every swap. How long it takes depends on your side: how many clients you ship and how custom the UI is. Your API key is in the partner dashboard as soon as you sign up.
