ICO Era Ethereum Whale Transfers 145k ETH after Three Years of Dormancy
An Ethereum whale that participated in the Ethereum genesis initial coin offering (ICO) back in 2014 suddenly woke up after being inactive for three years.
Over the past day, the whale transferred around 145,000 ETH to multiple unmarked wallets mostly in batches of 5,000 ETH and 10,000 ETH.
It is known that the whale obtained 150,000 ETH via the Ethereum genesis ICO 8 years ago. Since then and until yesterday, the whale was active only once, back in 2019 when it sold 5,000 ETH on the Bitfinex3 exchange.
The community speculates on whether the move has to do with the upcoming Ethereum Merge in September. It is also worth noting that the currency itself has been recently growing in value and earlier today has reached the mark of $2,000 for the first time in 3 months.
