Sonic (S) FAQ
The $S token is Sonic’s native token, used for paying transaction fees, staking, running validators, and participating in governance decisions.
At launch, Sonic’s total supply of 3.175 billion $S corresponds to the 3.175 billion FTM supply. Additional features will gradually be introduced based on governance proposals.
- Fee Monetization Burn: If a transaction occurs on a non-FeeM app, 50% of the fee is burned.
- Airdrop Burn: Users opting out of the full 270-day maturation period for 75% of their airdrop will have a portion of tokens burned.
- Ongoing Funding Burn: Any unused $S tokens from the 47,625,000 minted annually for growth funding in the first six years will be burned.
Sonic’s Fee Monetization (FeeM) program rewards developers with up to 90% of the fees their apps generate, fostering direct profits from app traffic and engagement.
