ETHW Exchanges Available on ChangeNOW

A few hours after the Merge, the team behind EthereumPoW announced the details of the newborn ETHW mainnet.

Meanwhile, ChangeNOW team listed the new ETHW coin and it’s available for exchange as you read this.

The hard fork of Ethereum designed to continue running on the Proof of Work consensus went live – however, things didn’t go completely as planned.

Soon after devs published the ETHW mainnet info at 2 PM UTC yesterday, users began to report they struggled to access the network. One of the most common problems was the inability to connect to ETHW via Metamask: users found out that EthereumPoW chose a Chain ID that had already been taken by a Bitcoin Cash Amber testnet.

Chain ID is a fingerprint for a specific network, and as there’s no “certified” database of IDs, one can be picked arbitrarily. The discrepancy in Chain ID was pointed out by users prior to the hard fork, and it’s likely that proper testing before the release could have helped discover the issue.

Another technical issue concerns the ETHW official block explorer: the web page doesn’t open from time to time, even though it does show how blocks are produced when access to the page is restored. It is also reported that as the network is new and there are few miners, deposits take from 5 to 7 hours as 1500 confirmations for a single transaction are needed.

Nonetheless, the network is operating. Major mining pools such as F2Pool and Poolin support ETHW, and the coin has been listed by major crypto exchanges. Just as promised, ChangeNOW has also successfully listed EthereumPoW and you can swap it for 450+ cryptocurrencies without registration. Stay tuned for further updates regarding ETHW and reach out to our support team in case you need help with your ETHW exchanges.
