Tether CTO Confirmed DDOS Attacks on the Website

It’s been confirmed that the website tether.io suffered a DDOS attack over the weekend.

This Saturday, June 18, the number of requests for the website increased by four times, from 2,000 to 8,000. Even though the attack is believed to be mitigated, the ‘under attack mode’ will remain on, just to prevent further risks, according to the Tether CTO Paolo Ardoino.

The ‘under attack mode’ is a Cloudflare’s DNS management service’s feature that protects the website from DDOS attacks by making users complete an additional security check. For human viewers it means that the browser will either open the website with a few-second delay or the user will have to complete a captcha to access the platform. The Tether CTO added that the security move shouldn’t affect the productivity of the website much.
